Attorney Jock Smith dead

The Montgomery Advertiser has confirmed reports that area attorney Jock Smith has died.
He died Sunday morning after a heart attack. Smith was 63.
According to a biography on jocksmith.com, he was a former assistant attorney general for the State of Alabama and served as political science professor at Tuskegee University.
Smith also was a senior partner in the law firm Cochran, Cherry, Givens & Smith, P.C. with famed O.J. Simpson attorney Johnnie Cochran.
Keith Givens, a managing partner of Cochran’s firm — which has 25 offices in 19 states — knew Smith for about 25 years, and had been partners with him for about 15 years.
