Zimbabwe to hold first Zimbabwe China trade fair next month
HARARE (Bernama)- Zimbabwe will hold the first Zimbabwe China Trade Fair next month aimed at fostering trade relations between the two countries, New Ziana reported.
The Africa Economic Development Strategies (AEDS) said in a statement that the trade fair’s objective is to find strategies to enhance trading opportunities between Zimbabwean companies and their Chinese counterparts.
“So far Zimbabwe companies have been facing difficulties in trading with China due to the size of the Chinese economy and the complexity of the industrial structure,” the statement said.
“AEDS in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries, Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce and the Chines embassy are hosting the first ever Zimbabwe China Trade Fair which seeks to create business linkages between companies from the two countries.” it added.
The government announced last month it was engaging the BRICS blocs of nations to hold trade fairs to enhance business opportunities with the group.
Trade between Zimbabwe and China doubled to US$800 million in the last two years as ties between the two countries continue to grow.
