Rades, Tunisia- 43 years, 17 tournaments and 4 finals was what it took for the Senior Men’s Nigerian basketball team to etch their name into the history books and become the 8th African country to lift the Afrobasket after a tense 74-65 win over Angola in Rades Tunisia. In a replay of the 2003 final where Angola defeated Nigeria 85-65, Nigeria came into the game looking to dethrone the current African Champions thereby staking their claim as the number one powerhouse in African basketball.

An African nation has never made an Olympic men’s basketball quarterfinal.
